In May of 2017, TANN Corporation shipped and installed a set of three 13,000 SCFM regenerative thermal oxidizers on a new paint line for a major automotive manufacturing plant in Mexico. This project offered a unique challenge because of the limited available space at the plant. There wasn’t enough room to build a thermal oxidizer outside the facility, so TANN had to work with the customer to find space inside. In the end, enough room was found to build three separate, smaller RTOs. The paint line has three ovens, so each RTO was dedicated to control separate oven’s emissions individually. Due to height and foot print limitations inside the plant, the media tanks were designed with structured monolith media to minimize the overall size of the RTOs. The engineering team at TANN determined that skid mounting the RTOs was the best way to minimize the time and expense for a full field installation, while ensuring the high level of quality our customers have become accustomed to.
Skid Mounted Thermal Oxidizer
The idea behind skid mounting a regenerative thermal oxidizer is to manufacture and assemble the RTO at our facility in Kaukauna, WI, and then ship the unit modularly. Each thermal oxidizer gets fully prewired at TANN’s manufacturing facility with connectors between separate modules. Doing this allows TANN’s control engineer the opportunity to troubleshoot each RTO before it ever leaves the shop. The skid mounted option also reduces time and expenses during installation and keeps the overall cost of the new equipment down.
