Thermal Oxidizer Maintenance Inspections

TANN has its own in-house service department which can provide comprehensive internal and external inspections of your equipment. These inspections are vital to get ahead of yearly maintenance and optimize uptime. We can inspect all types of oxidizers (RTOs, DTOs, recoups, catalytic), ovens, hot oil systems, heat recovery systems and more. An RTO operates in a demanding environment – high temperatures, continuous cycling, and exposure to process contaminants. Regular inspections are the most effective way to identify developing issues before they become costly failures, maintain thermal destruction efficiency, and keep your system in compliance with your air permit.

What a Full Preventative Maintenance Inspection Includes

Between Full Inspections

6-Month External Inspections

For customers who want more frequent oversight than an annual visit alone, TANN offers a lighter-touch external inspection at the 6-month mark. It's a shorter visit that doesn't require confined space entry, focused on catching developing issues between your full annual inspections rather than duplicating them.
  • Full walk-around visual inspection – structural anchors, cladding, steelwork and welds, ladders and access
  • Insulation condition check for hot spots, gas odors, and damaged sample lines
  • Visual inspection of all ductwork for leakage, sagging, structural damage, and broken welds
  • Process fan and combustion blower external check – rotation, cracks, mounting hardware, couplings, bearings
  • External inspection of dampers and poppet valve assemblies – cylinders, alignment couplings, guide plates, shaft seals, proximity switches
  • Control cabinet condition, cleanliness, fan and filter function
  • Thermal imaging survey
  • Fan alignment and balancing check
  • Written report documenting findings

Staying on Top of Maintenance Between Visits

Inspections catch what's developed since the last visit, but your system runs every day in between. TANN provides plants with daily and monthly maintenance log templates so your own team has an easy way to track routine checks – operating temperature vs. setpoint, inlet pressure, and general condition – and keep a documented maintenance history between service visits. Customers also have access to TANN's 24/7 technical support line between visits, so a question that comes up on a Tuesday afternoon doesn't have to wait for the next scheduled inspection.

Maintenance Contracts

TANN also provides maintenance contracts for customers looking for a comprehensive, multi-year inspection agreement. TANN will work with you to create a plan tailored specifically to your company – agreement length can run 2–5 years, with inspection intervals set annually, semi-annually, quarterly, or more depending on what your plant requires. Customers on an inspection program benefit from locked-in service pricing for the length of the agreement and free 24/7 phone support.
